13th Sunday after Pentecost, 8/19/2018

It has been seven years since the last pictorial directory was completed for the Oratory. Given the growth of our community, it is time again for another directory.  Pictures are scheduled to be taken on the Sundays in September beginning 9 September and finishing on 23 September. The location for pictures is the 3rd floor of the school. For those who are not able to access the school, a different date, time and place will be made available so that everyone may have their picture included in the directory.

In the back of Church are sign-up sheets to reserve a day and time for your picture.

  • This Sunday, Coffee Hour will end promptly at 1:30pm.
  • Next Sunday, 26 August, Coffee Hour is cancelled.

I have been made aware that my emails have not been reaching their intended recipient. My apologies to anyone who has been waiting on an email from me that didn’t arrive. I assure you that I read all emails related to the life of the Oratory and strive to respond in a timely manner. I am working with the Archdiocese to fix the problems.  I have also gotten a new email which I encourage everyone to please use. New email: msgrmorris@gmail.com.

We have received a donation for the communion rail pads assisting us with the completion of one of the on-going projects. There are other projects that need your assistance:

  1. We need to repair and replace the cassocks and surplices for the servers;
  2. The purchasing of liturgical books to assist us in celebrating the other sacraments in addition to Holy Mass.

If you are willing and able to assist financially with either of these projects, please contact Msgr. Morris directly: msgrmorris@gmail.com or 314/606-2461.

A number of people have expressed interest in some form of Adult Formation.  Please continue to consult the bulletin for updated information on programs for both this fall/winter and formation opportunities in the spring.  If you are interested in assisting with adult faith formation for the Oratory or you are interested in attending some form of adult faith formation, please contact the Rector directly: msgrmorris@gmail.com or 314/606-2461.

  • 8/19 - 8/26 Hayward
  • 8/26 - 9/2 Raymond
  • 9/2 - 9/9 Jones

Ushers are needed for both the 8:00 am and 11:30 am Masses. The primary responsibility of the ushers is to assist the faithful during Holy Communion. This will involve assisting those unfamiliar with receiving Holy Communion at the communion rail. It will also entail helping those who need assistance getting up from the communion rail.  Please contact Tom Gates (tsgfromstl@hotmail.com) if you are interested and able to help.

Welcome to the Oratory of Ss. Gregory and Augustine! We offer you this website as a guide to help you explore the life of the newest parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The recent widening of the “Extraordinary Use of the Mass” (according to the 1962 liturgical books) by Pope Benedict XVI has given birth to a remarkable renaissance of what most of us call simply “the Latin Mass”. In it are to be found a remarkable depth of spirituality and wisdom that so many people are searching for in today’s complex and confusing world.

In the I Book of his Confessions, the other great St. Augustine wrote “Thou hast made us for Thyself and our hearts are restless until they find rest in Thee.” Whether you are curious about the traditional Latin Mass and interested in exploring its beauty, or you are searching for parish community where you and your family will feel at home, or you are seeking simply rest for your heart, we hope this website will be of some help for you.

My prayer for you is that through these pages you will be able to get a glimpse of our liturgies and connect with some of the faces of the many people who make up our parish. In it you will find sermons, learn about our education programs and our social life, and be able to catch up on our most recent activities. I hope this will give you some sense of the grace of God, the love of Jesus Christ, and work of the Holy Spirit in our midst. I am delighted that God has brought you here! Oremus pro invicem!

—The Very Reverend Monsignor C. Eugene Morris, Rector
